Exploring the concept of 'hero', with examples.
Concept activities using dialogues
Sample teacher-led dialogues. Here, rather than providing an activity, contributors will talk us through the sorts of focused dialogue they might have with children to intruduce a concept or follow up a whole-class discussion in which the dialogue is raised.
Constructed dialogues. Another way to explore concepts and philosophical questions that arise out of clusters of concepts is by giving pupils short dialogues to read that focus on a particular concept or a cluster of related concepts. This might put pupils a step closer to responding reflectively in an open dialogue by presenting them with and a clear, concise focus for their attention and analysis. Sample dialogues can be used in the same way as the sets of questions to ‘dig deeper’ into a concept.
