Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning

THESE PATHWAYS are intended to provide flexible ways of working with each of the 7 themes from the Primary SEAL material produced by the DCSF (Department for Children, Schools and Families). SEAL stands for 'Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning' and is a National Strategy for all schools in England.

The materials are flexible in that they could be used for ‘one-off’ sessions exploring any of the key concepts within each theme that seem topical or particularly important; or they could be used to support, or even structure, a series of sessions on each theme.

The SEAL materials contain many wonderful activities that themselves are designed to encourage reflection on these key ideas. The items in this section will help teachers to use philosophy for children to get the most out of SEAL. For an introduction, see the key download for this section in the right hand column.
