This is a collection of inquiry plans in powerpoint format, each of which can be found by itself in the 'concept-stretcher' section.
They are brought together in this collection because they are all key concepts related to the first Primary SEAL theme, 'New Beginnings', and anyone planning more than one session under this theme might find it helpful to have these related concepts highlighted and to hand. A single powerpoint listing all the concepts can be found at New Beginnings - menu.
There is no standard way of relating the concepts to the theme - this depends on the overall approach and plan - but it would be important, in any case, to encourage children to make their own links between, say, feeling excited and the idea of 'new beginnings'.
Perhaps this could be achieved, either at the start or at the end of an inquiry session, by asking the direct question: 'What has feeling excited (or feeling worried, etc.) got to do with the idea of 'new beginnings'?'
Or, if you are introducing the main theme via a story/stimulus, as suggested in the Introduction to the Primary SEAL Pathways, it would be natural to ask straightaway, 'How does this story/stimulus connect with the theme, 'new beginnings'?' - and then see how many of the following concepts can be brought into the conversation.
Perhaps not all of them can be sensibly connected with any one story/stimulus, but there could still be enough of them highlighted for the children to have some choice in which ones to follow up.
